Abstract
This research addresses the issues in Indonesian education currently, caused by the era of globalization. The decline in national morality, national identity, and cultural values due to negative aspects of technological advancement necessitates preventative measures from national education. This study aims to explore the implementation of humanistic education in Islamic Religious Education. The results of this research are expected to contribute to the improvement of Islamic Religious Education practices in MA Bilingual Kota Batu through the implementation of humanistic education.
This research is a case study using a qualitative approach. Data collection was conducted through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was performed descriptively-analytically by describing and analyzing the implementation of humanistic education from the perspectives of observation, the curriculum coordinator, and Islamic Religious Education (IRE) teachers through objective research. The subsequent processes included domain analysis, data reduction, data categorization, and data triangulation. The findings of the research revealed the following from the problem formulation:
The implementation of humanistic education in IRE:
a. The existence of humanistic education, through the Merdeka curriculum by applying self-potential development, initial diagnostic of students’ uniqueness and strengths.
b. The process of humanistic education and learning, in which schools apply a humanistic approach by providing student freedom, recognizing student uniqueness, student-centered learning, and meaningful learning without excessive pressure.
c. Evaluation, by setting evaluations in the form of appreciation in ranking, and more frequent oral assignments expected to facilitate dialogic understanding developed by students.
The habituation and success of humanistic education in IRE:
a. Character development in accordance with the goals and principles of Islamic education, self-development through equality, and free potential development. Schools successfully implement humanistic education through habituation of aqeedah (faith) in learning, sharia in worship practices within the school environment, and ethics in character education, leading to holistic self-actualization and achieving the school's goals based on Islam, as well as creating a complete human being.
b. Establishing good communication through integrity in communication between educators and students by providing common goals in student self-development through activities that lead to positive outcomes.
