Abstract
Background: Nausea is one of the side effects in ovarian cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment. Patients who experience nausea after chemotherapy can affect their quality of life, and if not treated properly, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, risk of aspiration pneumonia, and lack of nutrition can occur. This study aims to identify Nausea before and after being given lemon aromatherapy intervention in post chemotherapy ovarian ca patients.
Method: The research method of the Final Scientific Work of Nurses is a case study report taken on March 25, 2024 in patients with a diagnosis of ovarian cancer, for non-pharmacological interventions, namely the administration of Aromatepai Lemon therapy which is carried out for 2 days in the sink room. Mrs. T is 40 years old with a diagnosis of Ovarian Ca + Acsites + Pleural Efusion who has complaints of nausea. The intensity of nausea is seen from the complaints of post-chemotherapy patients in a subjective way based on the Indonesian Nursing Diagnosis Standards (SDKI), Indonesian Nursing Intervention Standards (SIKI) and Indonesian Nursing Outcome Standards (SLKI).
Result: Based on the evaluation results on the first day, it was found that the level of nausea before the intervention was given had 11 scores, but after being given the lemon aromatherapy intervention, the score level increased by 15 scores, so that the score for the level of nausea reduction on the first day increased with a score of 11-15 = 4 scores. Furthermore, for the evaluation on the second day before the intervention was given, the level of nausea was still partially resolved with a score of 15, but after being given the intervention, the level of nausea was resolved with a total score of 20, so that the results of the score for the level of reduction in nausea on the second day increased with a score of 15-20 = 5 scores.
Conclusion and Recommendations: Lemon Aromatherapy is very beneficial for reducing nausea/nausea in post-chemotherapy patients. Recommendations for nurses to provide education to be applied to patients undergoing chemotherapy and have complaints of nausea.
