Abstract

This research aims to explore the role of social media, especially TikTok, as a forum for presenting news through the exploration of @kompastvnews accounts. By adopting a relaxed approach, @kompastvnews creates a unique dynamic in applying the principles of journalism.
This study is based on the theory of "News Value in Journalism". Content analysis involves aspects of the importance of information, the influence that the information has, how actual and relevant the information is to the current situation, as well as the closeness, character, and human value reflected in the news presented.
A qualitative method was used in this study to analyze the content of ten crime news videos uploaded in February 2023, with purposive sampling criteria, namely on videos that had more than 5 thousand viewers. The validity test of the data was carried out from the aspects of credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability.
The results of the study show that news delivery through TikTok social media still applies journalistic value, where of the 10 news researched, each news has a news value. 3 out of 10 news contains all news value criteria, while the other 7 news have several news value criteria such as significance, magnitude, timeliness, proximity, prominence, human interest. The research recommendation emphasizes the variety and innovation of news content for Kompas TV, paying attention to the audience's interest in reading the news, as an effort to improve more interesting content.
