Abstract
The need for energy these days is very large due to the rapid development of technology in all fields. The utilization of renewable energy includes utilizing solar radiation power by using solar cells as a converter of solar energy into electrical energy which we know as Solar Power Plant (PLTS). Sunlight consists of photons or solar energy particles that are converted into electrical energy. The energy absorbed by the solar cell is submitted to the electrons of the solar cell to be converted into electrical energy. To produce power, a solar cell is affected by a value of sunlight intensity that hits it. A solar cell system requires a control that aims to increase the power efficiency of the solar cell. This control is Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) which can optimize the power generated by solar cells. A solar cell only produces a low voltage value, so it is necessary to use a DC-DC step up converter to increase the DC voltage ratio. To optimize this system, an efficient converter is needed and can produce a high voltage conversion ratio. The research uses perturb and observe (P&O) as MPPT to get the optimal power value at the output of solar cells. The load power in this final project will be supplied by 2 sources namely PV as the main source and battery as an additional charger. This final project is a simpler approach to make the standalone system more reliable and efficient which proposed strategy and control scheme operation has been verified by MATLAB® Simulation.
