Abstract

This study aims to describe the form of language gender discrimination experienced by the characters in the short story Paraban Tuah by Elok Teja Suminar. and the impact of gender discrimination in the short story Paraban Tuah by Elok Teja Suminar.. The formulation of the problem in this study is (1) how the form of discrimination in the short story Paraban Tuah by Elok Teja Suminar., (2) How the impact of gender discrimination in the short story Paraban Tuah by Elok Teja Suminar.
The method used is a descriptive method using the approach of feminism. The source of data in this study is the short story Paraban Tuah by Elok Teja Suminar. Data in the form of pieces of stories, paragraphs in the short story Paraban Tuah by Elok Teja Suminar. Data collection techniques performed with documentation. Data analysis technique is done with the following steps. First, what researchers do is read, and carefully record the novel. Second, the exposure of data from quotations obtained from the short story. Third, the conclusion as an answer to all problems in the study.
The results of the study found a form of gender discrimination, namely (1) marginalization (marginalization) female figures are expected to leave their education because women are looked down upon and prohibited from continuing education. (2) the subordination (numbering) of women is made to satisfy lust, take care of Home Affairs and men who have arbitrary power over women. (3) negative stereotypes of women are labeled to take care of domestic or domestic affairs (4) violence occurs physical violence such as beatings, rape, sexual abuse and psychological violence such as threats. The impact of gender discrimination is (1) women's education is limited by their right to school due to patriarchal culture. (2) women's health is depressed leading to murder, throwing away her own baby, mental and psychological disorders.
