Language and humans can produce art that others can enjoy. The author's story or imagination is a literary work conveyed by people. Many literary works are created through simple imagination or direct techniques. The works of art on display can be novels or other literary works. A book about two white swans for Palupi who wants to make his dream come true. This research is the result of an analysis of the personality of the main character which aims to describe 1. Describe the personality structure of the main character in the novel A Pair of White Swans for Palupi. 2. Describe what factors influence the personality of the main character in the novel A Pair of White Swans for Palupi.
This research method uses a qualitative descriptive method. This research uses the data source of the novel a pair of white swans forpalupi by Marliana Kuswanti. The focus of this research is on the personality of the female character, namely Palupi, and the factors that influence personality. which was studied using Sigmund Fraud's psychoanalytic theory with a literary psychology approach. Data collection was carried out by reading and recording research materials. This data was analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. The data in this research is in the form of sentences that show the personality of the main character in the novel.
The results of this research are: 1. The personality structure of the main character, Palupi, in the novel A Pair of White Swans for Palupi, namely: id, ego and superego. aspects of the form of personality structure include, among others, strong drives, pleasure, emotionality, decision making, responsibility, feelings of sadness, moral ideals, conscience, religious values. In this case the ego is the most dominant. 2. Factors that influence the personality of the main character in the novel A Pair of White Swans for Palupi include internal factors (genetics) and external factors (family, culture and education) and external factors are dominant. In this case external factors are dominant.
