Abstract
Self-openness is an important thing when someone will establish a healthy and meaningful interpersonal relationship. In interpersonal communication that occurs on social media, various reasons can arise until the process of self-disclosure can occur. This study aims to identify and analyse how self-disclosure in the interpersonal communication process can occur, with a research focus on the friendship relationship of fan account users on social media X. The research method used is qualitative with a netnography approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with six informants who are active fan account users on social media X. Data analysis was carried out using Huberman and Miles analysis techniques. The results showed that there are several reasons for self-disclosure in interpersonal communication on social media X, including having a personality that is easy to open up, having a desire to convey the same thing, feeling compatible with friends, having different views with friends, having an easy going nature, and there is an age difference. In addition, norms and expectations within the fan account community are also factors that influence the level of self-disclosure between its members. The findings make an important contribution to the understanding of the dynamics of interpersonal communication on social media, particularly in the context of fan account users' friendships. The practical implications of this study include the importance of paying attention to efforts to build more intimate and meaningful relationships on social media platforms.
