Abstract
Language impoliteness is an action that violates politeness norms, which include
basic principles of communication. The emergence of impolite responses from netizens to
Gita Savitri's YouTube posts is due to disagreement with the concept of being Childfree. This
research aims to describe (1) the forms of linguistic impoliteness from netizens in response to
the Childfree issue on Gita Savitri Devi's YouTube posts, (2) the meaning of linguistic
impoliteness from netizens in response to the Childfree issue on Gita Savitri Devi's YouTube
posts, and (3) the context of linguistic impoliteness from netizens in response to the Childfree
issue on Gita Savitri Devi's YouTube posts. The theory used is Brown and Levinson's facethreatening acts theory. This type of research is qualitative, using a pragmatic approach. The
method used is a descriptive method. The data source comes from a video post on Gita
Savitri Devi's social media YouTube titled "Childfree: Serba Salah Di Mata
Warganet|PagiPagi eps.32". The research data consists of utterances (words, phrases,
clauses, sentences) that contain impoliteness. In this study, data was collected by applying
the documentation technique in the form of screenshots. Data analysis used the interactive
model of qualitative data analysis techniques. The results of this study found (1) forms of
linguistic impoliteness in the form of positive and negative face-threatening acts. Positive
face-threatening acts include actions that show the speaker gives a negative evaluation of the
interlocutor; actions that show the speaker's indifferent attitude towards the positive face of
the interlocutor. (2) Netizens' utterances that have the meaning of impoliteness include
utterances intended to mock, belittle, and insult others, ridicule and scoff, and (3) the context
of impoliteness based on the speech situation. Impolite remarks were made by commenters
towards other commenters, as well as by commenters towards the uploader.
