Abstract
In 2020 the world was faced with the Covid-19 pandemic, including South Korea. This caused the South Korean economy to experience a significant contraction. This situation then encouraged South Korea to optimize its economic conditions through the South Korean pop culture industry. This research aims to determine the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the South Korean economy and the contribution of the Korean Pop Culture Industry to the South Korean economy post-Covid-19. The method used in this research is a descriptive method supported by various reference sources through literature studies from various literature, including journals, papers, books, reports and so on, which are related to the research topic discussed. The results of this research indicate that the Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the South Korean economy, where at the start of the pandemic South Korea experienced an economic contraction of 1%. In addition, this study also shows that the presence of the Korean popular culture industry has contributed to the South Korean economy through its export activities of Korean popular culture products. Not only that, promotion of popular culture on the international stage as well as policy and regulatory support from the government for cultural industries and concert holdings will have an impact on improving the economy.
