Abstract
A person’s literacy ability will influence educational development and produce information knowledge that can contribute to the quality of academic and non-academic education. Literacy activities can be supoorted by quality library systems and functions, libraries become places for collecting literacy information that supports education at school and outside school. Therefore, there is an implementation of optimizing library systems and functions at SDN 3 Banjarejo. So this research aims to describe, 1) the implementation of literacy activities through application the development of the library system at SDN 3 Banjarejo. And 2) the function of the library in implementing literacy activities at SDN 3 Banjarejo.
The method used in this research is qualitative. The subjects in this research were grade 5 students, teachers and campus students teaching at SDN 3 Banjarejo. Data sources were obtained by observing students and interviewing KM students and teachers. Data collection techniques use observation, semi-structured interviews and documentation. This research instrument uses observation guide instruments, interview guide instruments, and data analysis grids.
` Implementation library systems and functions at SDN 3 Banjarejo has a positive role in student literacy development. Researchers found several findings from before the library implementation and after the library system and functions were optimized. Before implementation, the library did not support classroom learning, literacy activities or class reading corners. Student are not interested in coming to the library to read books, student literacy developent is slow. After optimizing the library, the collection of books in the library became additional media for carrying out learning activities, literacy activities and replacing books in the reading corner every Saturday. This research found that application library systems and functions plays a positive role in developing literacy skills and increasing the quality of education in schools.
