Abstract
Gempollegundi Public Elementary School has been using the independent curriculum since the beginning of the new 2022 academic year. The independent curriculum is already implemented for the fourth grade. During the learning process, teachers utilize various teaching models to achieve educational objectives. One of these models is project-based learning (PjBL) in Art Education. The purpose of this research is to explain the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model and its impact on students during the learning process.
This research employs a qualitative, descriptive research methodology. It was conducted at Gempollegundi Public Elementary School, focusing on fourth-grade teachers and students. The researcher conducted observations, interviews, and documentation to collect data. Data analysis was carried out in four stages: (1) data collection, (2) data reduction, (3) data presentation, and (4) drawing conclusions. To ensure data validity, two techniques were used: source triangulation and technique triangulation.
The research findings indicate that the fourth grade at Gempollegundi Public Elementary School uses the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in Art Education. The PjBL model consists of six learning steps: (1) project determination, (2) planning how to complete the project, (3) compiling steps to complete the project, (4) monitoring the progress of students' projects, (5) preparing reports and presenting the completed projects, and (6) evaluating the learning experiences gained by students. The research revealed that teachers have implemented the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in accordance with these six steps. When using the Project-Based Learning model, students become more active, creative, confident, and their collaboration skills improve.
