Abstract
Background: Stunting in toddlers poses a serious challenge in developing countries, including
Indonesia. Its short and long-term impacts encompass growth disorders, immune system vulnerability,
cognitive impairments, and economic repercussions. The prevalence of stunting in Indonesia,
particularly in Blitar Regency, demands an evaluation of the government's success in combating
stunting.
Method: The study was conducted at the Selopuro Community Health Center, Kedungrejo Village,
Malang Regency, East Java. The research involved in-depth interviews and documentation, with
informants including village midwives, village officials, and Integrated Health Post (Posyandu)
cadres. Data was collected through measuring program success, Posyandu implementation, and
success rate evaluations.
Results: 1) Government Program Intensity in Addressing Stunting: Monitoring toddler growth
through government programs highlights the importance of participation in Posyandu, 2) Stunting
Incidence Rate: The stunting incidence rate in Kedungrejo Village has decreased, with only one
toddler out of 443 identified experiencing stunting, 3) Government Program Implementation to
Address Stunting: The program is executed through Posyandu with active roles played by human
resources, including village midwives, Integrated Health Post administrators, health center nutrition
officers, and village officials, 4) Posyandu Activities in Kedungrejo Village: Annually, Posyandu
conducts community-based activities, providing support, distributing supplementary food, and health
education, 5) Supporting and Inhibiting Factors: Supporting factors include the active role of village
officials, cadres, and health workers, while inhibiting factors involve a lack of information and
understanding among parents.
Conclusion: The research indicates a positive trend in combating stunting in Kedungrejo Village,
linked to the success of Posyandu programs and active community participation. Supporting factors
such as active human resource roles and effective collaboration are key to success. However,
challenges such as time constraints and lack of information need to be addressed through improved
awareness campaigns. Program evaluation indicates smooth program operation, providing a strong
foundation for program sustainability in addressing stunting at the local level.
