Abstract

This research aims to find out: 1) What social problems are felt by the families of layoff victims and 2) What survival strategies are implemented by the families of layoff victims in the Golokan village community in meeting their basic needs. This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach, determining informants using purposive techniques with specified criteria, namely the Golokan village community who have been laid off and who are willing to be research subjects. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation. The data validation technique uses triangulation techniques. Data analysis in this research went through 3 stages, namely: data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results of this research show that: 1) the social problems felt by the families of layoff victims, namely a) in terms of economic factors the subject lost his job which had an impact on increasing unemployment rates, b) in terms of psychological factors the subject was unprepared to face this situation. 2) The survival strategies applied are: a) active strategy b) passive strategy c) network strategy.
