Abstract
Background: Baby Blues Syndrome, or post-partum blues, is often overlooked in Indonesia, indicating emotional changes in postpartum mothers. Symptoms, such as sadness and mild depression, typically emerge from day 2 to 2 weeks after childbirth, associated with hormonal fluctuations during pregnancy and post-delivery. Purpose: This research aims to comprehend emotional and physical changes, analyze factors causing emotions, and evaluate the impact of baby blues on the social environment and interpersonal relationships of mothers. Method: Involving 7 postpartum mothers through snowball sampling, data collection was conducted via recorded semi-structured interviews, with data authenticity tested through triangulation. Result: Childbirth significantly impacts the emotions of mothers, ranging from happiness to anger, stress, and sadness. The new role as a parent influences how mothers manage their emotions, with some struggling to control emotions, especially in facing minor issues. Factors such as lack of rest, sleep disturbances, and insufficient support lead to emotional changes. Support during the baby blues period, both physically and emotionally, proves crucial, providing comfort and assisting mothers in overcoming daily challenges. The urgency of sustained support is emphasized to enhance the well-being of postpartum mothers.
