Abstract
Background: Hypertension drugs (synthetic drugs) given over a long period of time can cause DRP (Drug Associated Problem), treatment is given through the use of plants that have compounds that can lower blood pressure.
Purpose: Provide information or data regarding plants in the Apocynaceae family which have activity as antihypertensive herbal medicines, provide information or data regarding the content of compounds which have activity as treatment for hypertension and provide information regarding the mechanism of action of active compounds in the Apocynaceae family as antihypertensive drugs.
Method: Using literature study research methodology or narrative literature review from various library sources from research articles both nationally and internationally. Key words ''Pule Pandak'' AND ''antihypertension'' and in English ''Rauvolfia serpentina'' OR "combined with herbal plants" AND "Hypertension" with a range of 2013-2023. The journal is full text and open access from the provider Google Scholar page, PubMed, Science Direct.
Result or conclusion: Based on research, 9 journals were obtained and the results obtained were that plants of the Apocynaceae family such as Pule Pandak, Tapak Dara, and Pulai were effective in lowering blood pressure in hypertensive patients because these plants contained compounds such as indole alkaloids. As well as Terpenoid Indole Alkaloids and antineoplastic alkaloids (vincristine and vinblastine). These compounds work by various mechanisms to lower blood pressure.
