Abstract

Stroke is brain attack related to paralysis caused by blockage of blood vessels in the brain or rupture of blood vessels in the brain. Families need knowledge, education and social support for care after the patient returns home, therefore the role of family members is very important to provide interventions that add special skills and knowledge related to caregiving to reduce the burden and strengthen the family in caring for stroke patients. Objective : To identify family strategies for caring for family members who have had a stroke. Method : The research method used is a qualitative research method. Data collection uses the interview method with the subjective reality being studied. The interview technique used was a semi-structured interview. The semi-structured interview was set up by the researcher by preparing question topics. Results : From the research results after interviews with P1, P2, and P3, 3themes were found, namely 1) mobilization exercises in the form of Range of Motion (ROM), 2) strategies for meeting nutritional needs, 3) meeting daily activity needs (ADL). Conclusion : The results of this research can be concluded that the family cares by providing strategies, namely by providing full assistance to meet the patient's ADL needs as well as providing physical exercise to reduce the level of dependency and providing nutrition with food thatis always boiled to prevent recurrence.
