Abstract
Background: Diabetes mellitus occurs when the pancreas is unable to produce insulin. ADL clearly provides an important role for controlling blood sugar levels. The aims of this research is to determine corelation between blood sugar levels and the level of independence of activities daily living of diabetes mellitus patients in Polyclinic at Surya Medika Hospital, PKU Muhammadiyah Sumbawa Besar.
Methods: This research uses analytic-observational approach and the approach used is cross-sectional with a population of 45 respondents. The population patient of Diabetes mellitus in Polyclinic at Surya Medika Hospital, PKU Muhammadiyah Sumbawa Besar. The research used the Barthel index questionnaire. The technique for taking samples is randomly using simple random sampling technique. Data were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment.
Results: The research results obtained a significance value of 0.000 or less than 5% (p <0.05) with a strong and opposite correlation of -0.728.
Conclusion: The conclusion in this research is that there is a corelation between activity of daily living (ADL) and the blood sugar levels in DM’ patients at Surya Medika Hospital PKU Muhammadiyah Sumbawa.
