Abstract
The 21st century education system requires students to have critical thinking skills. One of the factors of students' critical thinking ability is reading books. This qualitative study aims to determine the aspects of critical thinking in tenth grade high school biology books when reviewed with Facione indicators. The type of research is a literature study analysis with a descriptive research form. This research was conducted on 3 tenth grade high school biology books on the concept of classification of living things. Data collection uses a critical thinking ability rubric by analyzing level categories which include very poor (<54), poor (55-59), sufficient (60-75), good (75-85), and very good (86-100). The data collection method uses purposive sampling. The indicators used to analyze the critical thinking ability data were Facione's indicators. The results of the study inform that the critical aspects in the three books can be concluded that the critical thinking aspects that appear in book B are superior when compared to book A and book C. Where the largest percentage in book A includes 71% Interpretation and 11% Evaluation aspects. Meanwhile, in books A and B, the largest percentage is only in the Analysis aspect (book A 20% and book B 18%). The results of image analysis as much as 100% in books A and C are in accordance with the aspects of interpretation which means they are in the very good category. The results of table analysis as much as 80% are in accordance with the Interpretation aspect which means it is in the very good category. This can be used as a reference to be used in making the next Biological Science book..
