GAMBARAN DUKUNGAN KELUARGA PADA PASIEN YANG MENJALANI TERAPI HEMODIALISA

Background: Chronic renal failure is kidney damage in which the kidneys are unable to maintain metabolism and electrolyte fluid balance due to progressive destruction of the kidney structure. Family support is an interpersonal relationship that involves attitudes, actions and acceptance of family members who are sick and serves to provide support, help when needed. Good family support has an impact on the treatment process and quality of life of patients with chronic kidney
failure who must carry out hemodialysis therapy throughout their lives.
Objective: To find out how the description of family support in patients who are undergoing hemodialysis therapy. Methods: The research method used is a qualitative method with a case study research strategy. Data collection using semi�structured interviews and documentation, data triangulation as a test of data validity, participant selection using purposive sampling method. Results: After conducting interviews with P1, P2, and P3, 4 themes were found, namely 1) Emotional Support, 2) Appreciation or Assessment Support, 3) Instrumental Support, 4) Informative Support. Discussion: Family plays an important role in the care of someone who is diagnosed with stage V kidney failure and must carry out hemodialysis therapy throughout life by providing support. Family support provided includes four aspects, namely, emotional support, appreciation or assessment support, instrumental support, and informative support. Apart from
these four aspects, psychological family support is also very important to improve patient health. Someone who has to undergo hemodialysis therapy throughout their life needs good family support, so that the patient will feel cared for, cherished, and loved.
