Abstract

The protection of personal data in Indonesia is not maximized considering that technological advances are growing, especially in terms of transactions on e-commerce platforms. Personal data is one of the important requirements for the smooth transaction process in e-commerce. However, Indonesia is very vulnerable to cases of data leakage caused by negligence of data controllers and irresponsible individuals. The purpose of writing this thesis is to explain how the form of civil legal protection is reviewed from several laws relating to e-commerce and also find out how the form of responsibility of the party concerned. This thesis also discusses the use of face recognition as a form of double security considering that personal data can also be used as a security system itself. This legal research is normative legal research. Data is obtained through library research which is used to obtain data by studying books, journals, and laws and regulations. The results of this study indicate that there are many rules regarding legal protection but civil law is not specifically regulated. In the latest law, namely Law No. 27 of 2022 concerning Personal Data Protection, it is said that it is still not maximized in explaining and providing civil legal protection. And there is a legal vacuum in the use of .
