Abstract
This research aims to determine the coping carried out by KPSI Malang based on support groups. This research uses a qualitative approach, with observation, interview and documentation techniques. The subjects of this research were four people who were willing to be interviewed. The result of this research is that the application of the Peer Support Group Program is a coping strategy for KPSI Simpul Malang in handling the problems of people with schizophrenia (ODS). In its implementation, KPSI Simpul Malang uses Emotional Focused Coping (EFC). Emotion Focused Coping (EFC) is a form of coping that aims to regulate emotional responses to stressful situations. Individuals can control their emotional responses using behavior and cognition. Support groups are very suitable for handling ODS problems by controlling emotions with cognitive behavior. Coping behavior oriented towards Emotional Focused Coping in the implementation of the KPSI Simpul Malang Peer Support Group program has a coping classification. The classification of coping in this Peer Support Group is Positive Reapracial. After analyzing data from interviews and fact findings that the author obtained in the field, the author drew the conclusion that providing Peer Support Groups to People with Schizophrenia (ODS) can help their mental health. The positive impact of the Peer Support Group is, creating a feeling of being appreciated and loved, more enthusiastic and enthusiastic in carrying out daily activities and habits as well as an independent step forward in topics that are characterized by a sense of responsibility that arises when completing the assigned tasks.
