Abstract
Elderly abandonment is a persistent social symptom in society. The elderly population in East Java Province, based on the 2020 Population Census, reached 13.10 percent. The number of elderly people (aged 60 and above) will continue to increase due to certain factors that prevent them from meeting their basic needs physically, mentally, and socially. With this issue, the government established the UPT PSTW Blitar in hopes that they can fulfill their social roles well, thus creating social welfare for abandoned elderly through supportive work service programs. This research aims to explain the problems and needs experienced by the elderly and to elucidate the social services at UPT PSTW Blitar. This study employs qualitative research with a descriptive narrative approach. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, and documentation, while subject collection uses purposive sampling technique. The results of this research show various problems faced by abandoned elderly, such as psychological, social, and health issues. Basic needs to maintain welfare encompass physical, psychological, social, and mental-spiritual aspects. Furthermore, social services at UPT PSTW Blitar involve stages from admission, guidance, to termination.
