Abstract
Background: The emergence of dysmenorrhea in each menstrual cycle will disrupt daily activities, especially disrupting learning activities for teenagers. Dysmenorrhea has a big impact on students' attendance at exams, disrupts concentration on studying, and also disrupts teenagers' social lives. There are teenagers who consume medicine or herbal medicine as an effort to overcome dysmenorrhea without consideration or even paying attention to the composition of the medicine or herbal medicine that will be consumed. Teenagers should understand in depth what appropriate measures are taken to overcome dysmenorrhea. Objective: To determine efforts to overcome dysmenorrhea in adolescent girls. Method: This research uses a qualitative research design with a case study research strategy. The method of interview used was a semi-structured interview involving three participants, namely a teenager named Ms. F as participant 1, teenager named Ms. L as participant 2 and a teenager named Ms. M as participant 3. The data obtained was then subjected to domain analysis. Results: In this study, 2 themes were obtained: 1). Efforts to overcome dysmenorrhea pharmacologically 2) Efforts to overcome dysmenorrhea non-pharmacologically. Discussion: Efforts made by young women to treat dysmenorrhea non-pharmacologically are by drinking tamarind turmeric herbal medicine, drinking Chinese herbal medicine, applying warm compresses to the painful area, and doing massage. Meanwhile, teenagers' efforts to deal with dysmenorrhea pharmacologically are by drinking bottled herbal medicine.
