Abstract
Based on the results of observations and interviews with class 1 teachers at SDN Tlekung 02 on October 23 2023. The results of interviews and observations showed that in class 1 of the school there were still many class 1 students who could not read fluently and needed learning media as a tool to help students learn to read. This aims to make it easier for students to understand the material presented by the teacher and for students to be more active in participating in learning.
The purpose of this research is to develop syllabic puzzle learning media based on local wisdom for the reading skills of grade 1 elementary school students. This development research uses the ADDIE model which has 5 stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The data analysis techniques used in this research are qualitative data analysis techniques and quantitative data analysis techniques.
The development of this syllable puzzle media obtained material validation results of 85% and media validation results of 94%. The results of the validation of the material and media have been included in the category of being very suitable for implementation. Meanwhile, the student response questionnaire obtained a score of 93% which was stated by the media as very interesting. This can mean that the development of syllabic puzzle media based on local wisdom for the initial reading skills of grade I elementary school students can attract students' attention so that they are more active in participating in learning.
