Abstract

Mathematics plays an important role in the educational curriculum because it helps students overcome daily challenges and develop logical and methodical thinking skills. The VARK learning style, which combines Visual, Aural/Auditory, Read/Write, and Kinesthetic, plays a key role in understanding mathematical material. Mathematical problem solving, as a high-level complex
learning, often requires a combination of different concepts and skills. This research uses a qualitative approach to collect descriptive and behavioral information from students in their natural environment. In solving mathematical problems, there are two patterns found based on learning styles. The first pattern follows Polya's steps, while the second pattern adds additional steps to deepen understanding of the problem.
The choice of solution pattern depends on individual preferences and the complexity of the problem. Some students are more comfortable with a structured approach such as the first pattern, while others benefit from the added emphasis on understanding the problem in the second pattern. In addition, problem difficulty also influences the choice of solution pattern, with more complex problems requiring a more reflective approach.
The results showed variations in learning styles and problem solving approaches. Students show different abilities in dealing with mathematical problems, with some able to follow Polya's steps exactly, while others require additional emphasis on understanding the problem.
The results of the research and discussion, the main finding is that there are 9 types of learning styles in class IV students at SDN Pakel Watulimo Trenggalek. Of the nine types, students who are able to solve problems according to the steps proposed by Polya are those who have the KVA, VRA, RVA, KRV, and ARK learning styles. Of the 5 subjects who had problem solving abilities, 2
different problem solving patterns were found.
