Abstract

The presence of mass media, including social media as online media, has become an important part of people's lives. Mass media, with its wide coverage and mass access, plays an important role as a mass communication tool to disseminate information and influence the culture and behavior of society. One institution that is active in using social media as a tool to convey educational messages is the Film Censorship Board (LSF). Through the TikTok platform, LSF tries to convey a message about the importance of paying attention to age classification in watching movies. This is because LSF realizes that there are still many cinemas and parents who neglect to allow minors to watch films that are not suitable for their age. Early childhood tends to be more at risk of being negatively impacted by watching movies due to their imitative characteristics or traits. This research is qualitative research with a descriptive approach using Stuart Hall's reception analysis. Data were collected through interviews and documentation. By using reception analysis, this research aims to find out how parents interpret and accept the messages conveyed by LSF through the content of "The Impact of Watching Movies that Are Not Age-Classified". The researcher took 5 subjects with the background of a mother who lives in Satimpo Village and has an early age child. The results showed that the majority of parents received the message positively, with opinions influenced by their backgrounds and personal experiences. All five subjects agreed with the content of the message conveyed by LSF that watching movies not in accordance with age classification can have a negative impact in the form of disturbed child psychology, emotional instability, and imitation of inappropriate scenes. This shows that the messages delivered by LSF through social media can be effective in achieving their educational goals.
