Abstract
Humans have been traveling to various parts of the world for some time. In the process of traveling, people always get new things and experiences. People often write stories about their travels and show all the conditions of the places they have visited to the wider community. In the last period, many literary works tell the story of a journey, both in Indonesia and abroad. Presenting a travel story in text form or a travel story can be called travel literature.
The aim of this research is to describe the author's depiction of the world objectively and subjectively in the novel Tapak Trace by Fiersa Besari and to describe the strategy for gaining readers' trust in the novel Tapak Trace by Fiersa Besari. This research uses qualitative methods with a literary sociology approach. The data source in this research is the novel Tapak Trace by Fiersa Besari. The data used in this research are words, sentences and expressions, as well as quotes related to the problem formulation. Data collection was carried out by reading the entire content of the novel carefully and then recording relevant quotes.
The results of this research are that they tend to use more subjective world depictions. The author's involvement in emotional feelings such as admiration, pleasure, sadness, disappointment and fear becomes subjectivity. Apart from that, there are three strategies for gaining reader trust, namely the strategy of objectivity and detail, the strategy of familiarity, and the strategy of empiricism.
The conclusion of this research is that the researcher describes the foreign world encountered by the author through an objective perspective and a subjective perspective. Apart from that, the researcher wants to convince readers that the author made a trip to Eastern Indonesia. The strategy used is the strategy of objectivity and detail, which aims to convey the reality that the author sees to the world as it is. The familiarity strategy aims to convey a certain cultural context, including the use of language styles or what are usually called simile figures of speech. The empirical strategy aims to convey that the author discovered a foreign language in a new place, foreign terms that he had never known when visiting Eastern Indonesia.
