Abstract
Strengthening concepts is one of the factors that has an impact on students' ability to achieve success in learning. Understanding concepts has an important role in facilitating students to remember the information they have learned. The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of the PBL (Problem Based Learning) learning model on strengthening the concepts of class XI-MIPA students at SMAN 1 Malang on material on the body's defense system against disease. pseudo (quasi experimental design), where there are experimental class groups and control classes. The experimental class was given treatment in the form of using the PBL model, while the control class used conventional. Data collection will be carried out by carrying out a pre-test and post-test with the same questions, where the pre-test is given before learning and the post-test is given after learning. The research design uses Nonrandomized Control Group Pretest-Posttest Design. This also influences the understanding of the concepts achieved. Based on the findings and discourse in this investigation, the next conclusion can be concluded that the use of the PBL learning model has a significant impact on increasing critical thinking skills in class XI-MIPA students at SMAN 1 Malang. This is proven by the results of hypothesis testing using ANCOVA, where a significance value of 0.000 - 0.05 indicates acceptance of the null hypothesis (Ho), which leads to the conclusion that the application of the PBL model significantly influences students' critical thinking.
