Abstract
The stability of the PLTU's voltage and frequency must be maintained and increased through generators. Therefore, there are two numbers of Control Loops given to generators, namely the Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) Loop controls the amount of reactive power and voltage, while the Load Frequency Control (LFC) Loop controls the actual power and frequency. However, AVR and LFC are two different systems and have different functions too. The performance of the AVR system has weaknesses when there is a disturbance or change in load above the normal load limit, which can damage the generator. On the other hand, the performance of the LFC system is not optimal when there is a sudden and continuous small load disturbance, which will affect the performance of the power system. So, to reduce the problems that occur, this research designed a new scheme, namely a combination of AVR and LFC using PID control and optimized using Artificial Bee Colony (ABC). Developing a new scheme combining AVR and LFC to produce stable voltage and frequency, so as to improve the performance of the voltage and frequency produced and maintain the safety of generator use.
