Abstract

The curriculum currently used at junior high school level is the Independent
Curriculum. The Independent Curriculum is the latest curriculum development from the 2013 curriculum. The problem with this research is that many teachers have not implemented learning in accordance with the principles of the Independent Curriculum. The objectives of this research are: (1) to find out the implementation of junior high school level science learning in the independent curriculum in Malang Raya, (2) to find out the obstacles in implementing junior high school level science learning in the independent curriculum in Malang Raya, (3) to find out solutions to the obstacles that occur in the implementation science learning at junior high school level in the independent curriculum in Malang Raya.
This research uses qualitative and quantitative research approaches. The
sample for this research was grade 7 students at SMPN 13 Malang, SMPN 1
Karangploso, MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Malang City, MTs Negeri Kota Batu, SMP Muhammadiyah 06 Dau, and SMP Muhammadiyah 4 Malang. This data collection technique uses interviews, questionnaires, observation and documentation studies.
The data analysis that the researcher used was Microsoft Excel software for quantitative data. Qualitative data uses data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions.
The results of this research can be concluded that (1) The percentage of
achievement of implementing science learning in the Independent Curriculum at the junior high school level in Malang Raya reached >80%, (2) The percentage of barriers to implementing science learning in the Independent Curriculum at the junior high school level in Malang Raya has a greater value (> ) rather than solutions to face these obstacles, (3) The percentage of solutions to obstacles to implementing science learning in the Independent Curriculum at the junior high school level in Malang Raya has a smaller value (<) than the obstacles.
