Abstract
This research aims to determine the concept and implementation of the sakīnah family according to Muhammadiyah women activists in Malang City. The researcher used qualitative research, with a descriptive-analytical approach and used a type of field research. Parents' busy lives as activists resulted in minimal meetings between family members, whereas based on existing data, apart from economic factors, communication factors were no less important. Muhammadiyah female activists refute this argument, their main role as activists is not an obstacle when dividing domestic (household) and public (society) roles. The results of this research show that not all Muhammadiyah women activists use the concept of family from the guidelines and demands of Muhammadiyah-Aisyiyah, but the concept used refers to the Qur'an and sunnah, as well as obeying the norms and rules of sharia and the state. Meanwhile, female activists in implementing family sakinah are in accordance with their main goals, one of which is to be a good role model (uswatun hasanah), based on the results of interviews and correlating with the guidebook or demands of family sakinah, the family of Muhammadiyah female activists are categorized as sakinah by choosing quality time for the family rather than quantity. with family. The creation of a sakinah family can be manifested from the happiness of parents and children both near and far, maintaining communication, maintaining trust, understanding each other's strengths and weaknesses and mutual support between family members in order to create a prosperous family, sakinah for the world and the hereafter.
