Abstract
Thesis with the title "Grobyak Ikan Tradition as a Social Identity of the Tanjung Village Community (Study in Tanjung Village, Pagu District, Kediri Regency)". In this thesis research, the focus is on the process of forming social identity in the Grobyak Ikan tradition. Through maintaining local traditions, it can strengthen social identity which is maintained regularly. This condition goes hand in hand with the process of forming social identity amidst the differentiation of each individual's personal identity. Cultural growth in the current era has experienced quite significant developments, as culture develops, there are not many regions that have not found their social identity. The aim of this research is to find out and understand the Grobyak Ikan tradition as a social identity for the people of Tanjung Village. This research uses a qualitative research approach with descriptive research. With the aim of providing real and real results regarding culture in society. The results of this research indicate that the Grobyak Ikan tradition is a medium for forming the social identity of the Tanjung Village community. Based on the data that has been obtained, in developing the Grobyak Ikan tradition into a social identity for the community there are several challenges, namely the era of modernization and maintaining trust after Covid-19. In line with this, it can be understood through Stephen Worchel's perspective regarding social identity, which contains two concepts, namely cognitive and motivation. Data analysis using the social identity perspective from Stephen Worchel shows that the stronger the social identity, the lower the standardization of each individual's personal identity. According to the social identity model, as the importance of group membership increases, each subject becomes more identified with his or her group, differences between self and within group decrease, and discrimination between groups decreases.
