Abstract

This research was conducted on clothing traders in Pasar Besar Malang with the aim of understanding how social capital is utilized by clothing traders in Pasar Besar Malang. The research employed a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach. The study subjects consisted of 5 informants, selected through purposive sampling. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. From the conducted research, it can be concluded that clothing traders in Pasar Besar Malang possess social capital, as viewed through Putnam's theory, encompassing three aspects: values and norms by applying positive values and good norms, trust formed through honesty during transactions, and commitment to maintaining the quality of the goods. Social networks are established during transactions with fellow traders and buyers, enabling clothing traders in Pasar Besar Malang to maintain loyal customers and even potentially expand their marketing reach.
