Abstract
Research with the title "Traumatic Representation of Women Victims of Sexual Harassment in Youth Drama Films (Semiotic Analysis of the Film Dear Nathan Thank You Salma by Kuntz Agus)". This film is an Indonesian film that will be broadcast in 2022 and is directed by Kuntz Agus. The aim of this research is to find out the meaning behind the symbols/signs in the film "Dear Nathan Thank You Salma" which relate to women's trauma. Film is a mass communication medium that can influence audiences by using the message content contained therein. Based on the content of the message in the film Dear Nathan Thank You Salma, as a depiction of social reality, it tells the story of women who experience trauma after sexual harassment. Cases of sexual harassment in Indonesia with victims experiencing stress and trauma prompted researchers to conduct this research by uncovering the meaning of symbols related to trauma in the film Dear Nathan Thank You Salma.
The paradigm used is critical with Roland Barthes' semiotic research method. The research uses semiotic theory which was coined by Roland Barthes where the research data is in the form of writing and the results obtained through 3 stages of analysis, namely denotation, connotation and myth. The approach used is qualitative with an interpretive qualitative type. The results of the research found were facts related to assumptions that people believed so that they became myths. The woman was traumatized after experiencing sexual harassment by her close friends and people around her so that the victim experienced severe pressure. Trauma in this film is depicted non-verbally because victims who experience sexual harassment experience trauma.
