Abstract
This research aims to: (1) describe employee performance, competency and
employee motivation. (2) determine the effect of competency on employee
performance. (3) determine the effect of competence on work motivation. (4)
knowing the motivation for employee performance. (5) find out whether motivation
can mediate competence on employee performance. This research uses quantitative
methods with a descriptive approach. The analytical method used is path analysis
and Sobel test using SPSS 25. The population in this research is employees of PT.
Oil and Gas Mandiri Pratama East Kalimantan with a sample of 35 respondents
using a total sampling approach. The results of this study are (1) good competence,
high motivation, and high employee performance. (2) Competency has a significant
positive effect on employee performance. (3) competence has a significant positive
effect on work motivation. (4) work motivation has a significant positive effect on
employee performance. (5) work motivation can mediate the influence of
competence on employee performance.
