Abstract

This research aims to determine character formation through the habit of congregational morning prayers at SD Muhammadiyah 4 Batu. Character formation is one of the foundations and is considered the best solution to shape and improve national character. Character formation through the congregational morning prayer program is to form a disciplined character so that this trait becomes a habit that sticks and becomes a character for the students.The research approach used by researchers is a qualitative approach, while this type of research uses field research. Research data was obtained through observation, interviews and documentation techniques. The data analysis techniques used are data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Meanwhile, the data validity checking techniques used are source triangulation and technical triangulation.The results of the research showed that through the habit of morning prayers in congregation at SD Muhammadiyah 4 Batu, it can form character in students. The character of discipline is the most prominent character because students are able to manage their time when taking ablution, prepare prayer tools and discipline themselves so they can carry out the morning prayer immediately and not disturb their study time later, in queuing for food. This is to familiarize students with time discipline in their lives.
