Abstract

Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease caused by impaired insulin secretion because it doesn't work properly, causing abnormal blood glucose levels. Diabetics tend to have a risk of infection in the feet, which is relatively difficult to treat because of damaged blood vessels which makes it difficult for antibiotics, oxygen, and the body's immunity to spread and hinders the wound healing process. In cases using mechanical debridement which is done by covering the wound with gauze soaked in normal saline so that the debris will stick to the gauze after drying. Objective: to treat and reduce wound widening and control blood glucose levels in Mrs. S with Diabetes Mellitus problems
Method: The research in this final scientific work uses a case study report with nursing care for patients and families. Researchers followed the nursing assessment process which was accompanied by providing education and treatment to patients. Results: Treatment of patients, wound care and providing education to patients and families were considered useful. The patient's wounds have improved and are drier than before they were treated.
Conclusion: Treatment and care for wounds in patients can make wounds dry and not spread.
