Abstract
The study critically examines the meaning of love found in the lyrics of the song titled "Asmalibrasi" by Soegi Bornean. The lyrics revolve around the theme of love, incorporating both Sanskrit and Javanese languages. Furthermore, the song features a fusion of Kalimantan and Javanese ethnic music, making it intriguing for a more in-depth investigation. The primary objective of this research is to elucidate the meaning of love conveyed in the lyrics of "Asmalibrasi," popularized by Soegi Bornean. The theoretical framework employed in this study is Ferdinand de Saussure's Semiotics. A qualitative research method is utilized to achieve the research goals. The data source for this research consists of the lyrics of the song "Asmalibrasi" by Soegi Bornean. Data collection involves a process of comprehending the research object, dissecting the research object, and interpreting the meaning of signs within the lyrics of "Asmalibrasi." The findings reveal similarities between the song "Asmalibrasi" and the Javanese poetic composition "Asmaradana" when interpreted comprehensively. Both literary works center around the theme of love between two individuals engaged in a romantic relationship with strong mutual feelings. The desire to take serious steps in their relationship, such as marriage, is evident in both works. The conclusion drawn from this research is that the lyrics of the song depict the emotions of love and the aspiration to build a deeper and committed relationship.
