Abstract

Basic teaching skills are closely related to how educators convey messages in communication to students. The effectiveness of the communication process that takes place during learning largely determines the success of learning activities. The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of Problem Based Learning model in science learning and to assess the learning process of science using transcript-Based learning Transcript Based Lesson Analysis (TBLA) to improve student communication in the learning process of Science in SMP Negeri 18 Malang. The method in this study is descriptive qualitative. Subjects were students of Class VII-A SMP Negeri 18 Malang. Qualitative Data is obtained from the documentation in the form of audio-visual recordings that will be analyzed in the form of transcripts using Transcript Based Lesson Analysis (TBLA). The results showed that the application of Problem-Based Learning in learning is effective in improving the communication skills of students in Class VII-A SMP Negeri 18 Malang in terms of the acquisition of graph Number of words that increased at the second meeting. In addition, the learning process with the application of Problem Based Learning is well implemented in accordance with the PBL syntax. The conclusion of this study learning with PBL can improve students ' communication skills in the form of active discussions to then be presented in front of the class
