Abstract

This portfolio discusses the creation of an Arabic voice-over for a profile video for the Arabic Language Education Study Program at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). The background to this project was the inconsistency between the program's identity, which focuses on Arabic, and the profile video, which still uses Indonesian narration. This was deemed incapable of conveying the atmosphere, enthusiasm, and unique character of Arabic language learning itself. The main objective of this voice-over was to create a more lively, authentic atmosphere, and in keeping with the program's identity. By using standard Arabic (fusha), the profile video is expected to convey a professional and academic impression, demonstrating that program graduates not only understand theory but also are able to communicate actively in Arabic. Furthermore, the use of Arabic is also expected to increase the program's appeal to prospective students.
This project went through several stages: pre-production, production, and post-production. The pre-production stage involved script development, translation into Arabic, and the selection of competent voice actors. The production stage focused on the voice recording process, paying attention to intonation, clarity of pronunciation, and audio quality. Meanwhile, in the post-production stage, editing, sound enhancement, and merging of audio and video are carried out to produce a harmonious and attractive display. The results of this project show that the use of Arabic voice-over significantly improves the quality of profile videos. The narration is delivered clearly, professionally, and matches the visuals displayed. Furthermore, the presence of voice-over is not only a complement but also a key element in strengthening the identity of the study program as an institution that focuses on developing Arabic language skills, particularly in speaking skills (kalam). In conclusion, the use of Arabic voice-over in profile videos is an effective step to improve the image, attractiveness, and uniqueness of the study program. This project also shows that promotional media that is well-packaged and in accordance with the identity can have a significant impact in attracting prospective students and strengthening the branding of educational institutions.
