Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) in developing processed herbal drink products (beras kencur) in Sombo Village, Poncol District, Magetan Regency, and to identify the challenges faced in its implementation. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques including interviews, observation, and documentation. The research subjects consist of the Head of BUMDes, the Village Secretary, and the community of Sombo Village.
The results show that the development strategy of the beras kencur business is analyzed based on four indicators: institutional strength, financial management, business unit development, and impact. In terms of institutional strength, BUMDes already has an organizational structure and task distribution, but still requires improvement in management professionalism. In financial management, capital management and financial recording have been implemented, although still on a simple scale. In business unit development, the availability of abundant raw materials is a major potential; however, product marketing is not yet optimal due to limited use of digital technology. Meanwhile, in terms of impact, the beras kencur business has not shown an optimal contribution to increasing community income or Village Original Revenue (PADes), due to the relatively low income generated from sales.
The main challenges include limited human resources, lack of marketing innovation, and suboptimal business development strategies. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen managerial capacity, utilize digital technology for marketing, and develop more structured business strategies so that BUMDes can optimally function as a driver of the village economy.
