Abstract
Background: Pleural Effusion Disease is accompanied by chest pain, coughing up
phlegm, shortness of breath, muscle aches, and night sweats resulting in disturbed
sleep and rest. Other factors that interfere with sleep patterns are stress and
emotional problems caused by changes in environmental conditions. Meanwhile,
from a psychological point of view, lack of sleep will cause changes in patients to
become lethargic, and have difficulty concentrating.
Objective: To analyze managed cases in patients with Pleural Effusion with the
implementation of Florence Nightingale's model theory
Method: Writing of the Nurse's Final Scientific Work uses a research design with
a case study approach to explore the problem of nursing care in patients with pleural
effusion by conducting assessments, establishing nursing diagnoses, preparing
plans, carrying out nursing actions and evaluating patients.
Result: Problems found in Mr.N with Pleural Effusion include ineffective airway
clearance, sleep pattern disturbances, and activity intolerance
Discussion: Nursing care with the Florence Nightingale Model approach can be
applied to the nursing care of Pleura Effusion patients, because it emphasizes
especially on the environment by fulfilling thirteen implementations based on
theory by researchers. Implementation with a basic nursing theory approach
certainly requires recommendations that can be implemented in the hospital and
community environment, namely education by providing comfort during sleep by
turning off the lights and turning on the murotal quran
