Abstract

The importance of developing poetry writing literacy skills in elementary school students as part of language skills and creative expression. Deep learning is seen as an approach that emphasizes active involvement and meaningful learning experiences for students, but its application in Indonesian language learning has not been fully optimized. Therefore, this study seeks to determine: 1) the implementation of deep learning in poetry writing for fifth-grade students at SDN Punten 01, and 2) the effect of deep learning on improving poetry writing literacy skills in fifth-grade students at SDN Punten 01.
This study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design using a one- group pretest-posttest model. This research was conducted at SDN Punten 01 Batu in the even semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, specifically in January 2026. The study population was 74 fifth-grade students in the 2025/2026 academic year, with a sample of 25 students from class 5B. Data collection methods included observation, questionnaires, and student achievement tests. Data analysis used validity, reliability, normality, homogeneity, and t-tests.
The results of this study indicate that the Deep Learning approach has an impact on students' poetry writing literacy skills in Indonesian language subjects, particularly on poetry material in grade VB of SDN Punten 01 Batu. It is recommended that it be implemented in the learning process, both from the perspective of teachers and students. However, this study still has limitations in the limited sample size in one class and the relatively short research period. Therefore, further research with a broader scope is needed to obtain more comprehensive results. The implications of this study indicate that the implementation of deep learning has a positive contribution to improving elementary school students' poetry writing literacy skills. Therefore, it can be used as an alternative approach to Indonesian language learning that encourages active involvement, creativity, and meaningful understanding.
Recommendations for further research include implementing deep learning on different materials and levels, with longer learning durations and involving a wider number of subjects to obtain more comprehensive results.
