Abstract
English has language components such as pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar. Students should strive to become fluent in all four language skills, but particularly in vocabulary. The first and most important thing to do when learning a new language is to expand your vocabulary. English song videos as an easy medium for remembering vocabulary, because they are familiar to students. This study aims to analyze the perception of seventh graders at SMP Diponegoro regarding the use of English video songs for vocabulary learning. The problem has been formulated with this purpose in mind. Qualitative descriptive is used in this study. The research instrument is a questionnaire that was used to gather information from students about their perception. The majority of 7th graders at SMP Diponegoro have a positive perception of using English video songs as a tool for learning vocabulary. Perception can be determined through the attitudes, beliefs, and opinions expressed by individuals. They find this method to be effective, enjoyable, and helpful in remembering new words. Some students also mentioned the benefits of using English video songs in group study, such as peer support and engagement. In the context of this question, negative perception would refer to students expressing a dislike or skepticism towards using English video songs for learning, there were also some concerns raised by a few students, such as difficulty in understanding the songs or not feeling familiar with them.
