Abstract
This research aims to identify legume users among smallholder sheep farmers in two villages, namely Gading Kulon and Mulyoagung, Dau District, Malang Regency in 2023. The samples in this study were respondents taken from two villages in the Dau district which were selected based on data from the District which has a population supreme sheep. The survey research method and direct field observation were carried out on selected breeders as many as 12 breeders in Gadingg Kulon village and 17 breeders in Mulyoagung village. A total of 29 sheep breeders as selected respondents were observed to obtain data on the use of legumes to support sheep productivity. The data obtained was analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The results of the research show that sheep breeders in Gading Kulon village use more Leguminosa feed at a distance of >3 km than sheep breeders in Mulyo Agung village at a distance of 0km. Lamtoro is a type of legume that is widely used in the two villages, a small number of breeders use the Calliandra, Gamal dan Indigofera. Leguminosa consumption per head per day in Gading Kulon village is 0.904kg while in Mulyo Agung village it is 0.098kg. Through the results of research that has been carried out for breeders in two villages, namely Gading Kulon and Mulyoagung, researchers suggest holding counseling and guidance on feeding management, for example providing information regarding the nutrition of legume types which are very good for sheep feed. Then, legume planting is carried out in gardens or forestry locations, so that the distance between the two villages for procuring legume feed ingredients is closer and easier to reach.
