Abstract
This study is motivated by the growing role of social media as a space for digital economic discourse, particularly in the dissemination of information and opinions regarding crypto assets. Platform X has become one of the main media for shaping public opinion in the crypto space, where financial influencers play an important role as opinion leaders. The account @satyaXBT was selected because of its active dissemination of analysis and criticism of the Binance Alpha feature, which has generated diverse responses within the crypto community. This study aims to examine how the Cupang Ventures crypto community receives the Binance Alpha content presented by the @satyaXBT account on Platform X. The research adopts a constructivist paradigm with a qualitative approach and employs a reception study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and documentation involving five active members of the Cupang Ventures community. Data analysis applies Stuart Hall’s encoding–decoding theory to identify audience reception positions, namely the dominant–hegemonic, negotiated, and oppositional positions. The findings indicate that audience reception of the Binance Alpha content falls into all three reception positions. Some informants dominantly accept the criticism, others negotiate the message based on personal experience, while the rest reject the critical narrative presented. These findings demonstrate that audiences are active in interpreting digital financial content on social media.
