Abstract
Background: According to WHO in 2014, occupational diseases in developing countries are predominantly suffered by workers in the informal sector. The manual handling habits of workers often lead to pain the bones and joints in the lower back due to excessive workload capacity, resulting in low back pain. Based on the Global Burden of Disease, low back pain lead the cause of global disability. Low back pain is the primary cause of disability related to daily activities. One of the main factors that disrupt daily activities is the severity of the pain.
Objective: To examine the correlation between the severity of pain in low back pain and the level of disability in doing daily activities among farmers in
Tirem Village, Gresik Town
Method: This research used an observational analytical method with a crosssectional approach, and used purposive sampling technique. The data were derived from the Numerical Rating Scale and the Indonesian version of the Modified Oswestry Disability Index (ODI). The research was conducted in Tirem Village, Gresik Town in February 2025.
Result: The Data analysis using Pearson correlation test showed a significance value of 0.013 with a correlation degree of +1.000, indicating a strong and significant correlation between the severity of pain in low back pain and the level of disability in doing daily activities
Conclusion: The severity of pain in low back pain is correlated with the level of disability in doing daily activities among farmers in Tirem Village, Gresik Town
