Abstract
Background : Severe preeclampsia is used as a complication that occurs in high-risk pregnancies with an increase in blood pressure that previously had normal blood pressure. The impact of labor with severe preeclampsia, namely premature parturition and low birth weight experienced by the fetus due to a lack of nutritional intake absorbed by the fetus which resulted in stillbirth of the fetus. The prevalence of preeclampsia in Indonesia is 128,273/year or around 5.3% according to WHO.
Objective: This study aims to help with nursing care management of peripheral circulation care in patients with severe preeclampsia (PEB) and imminens preterm labor (PPI).
Method: This research method is qualitative with a case study approach (case report)
Result : In patients managed with a diagnosis of ineffective peripheral perfusion related to increased blood pressure, peripheral edema was found to decrease (< 3 seconds), capillary refill improved, peripheral pulse rate improved (88 beats per minute), blood pressure improved (140/80 mmHg). The patient is also able to carry out activities as usual and the edema in the legs which the patient previously said felt numb and difficult to move has improved. However, patients still need to control their diet to reduce risk factors for increased blood pressure which can cause edema in the legs.
Conclusion : In this study, the main diagnosis in pregnant women with preeclampsia and premature labor (PPI) was obtained, namely ineffective peripheral perfusion associated with increased blood pressure. Increased blood pressure in pregnant women results in decreased circulation which results in the appearance of edema in the legs. The intervention given was soaking the feet in warm water and massaging the feet. It was found that there was an effect on reducing the level of edema in the feet before and after the intervention.
