Abstract

The impact of globalization creates competition between local culture and foreign culture, Indonesian needs a strategy to realize the goal of preservation culture, especially traditional dance art. This purpose research are (1) to describe the implementation activity of the traditional dance preservation program at SDN Dinoyo 3 Malang, (2) to describe supporting factor of the traditional dance preservation program at SDN Dinoyo 3 Malang, (3) to describe inhibiting factor of the traditional dance preservation program at SDN Dinoyo 3 Malang.
This research used descriptive qualitative. The data collection used interview, observation, and documentation. Data source is headmaster school, teacher traditional dance, teacher, student, and activity program archive. This research to do at November to December 2023.
There are 3 implementation efforts to preserve traditional dance at SDN Dinoyo 3 Malang, namely habituation morning, extracurriculars choices, and competition. Habituation morning followed by the entire civitas school with the method of imitation demonstration, the dance practiced is Grebek Sabrang dance and Grebek Jawa dance, as well as carried out every Wednesday morning. Extracurricular traditional dance choices performed by students interested in the development of talent and interested in traditional dance carried out every Wednesday at 12.30-14.00. The extracurricular activities of traditional dance are divided into several groups of the lower class, high class, and the competition. The lower class get uncomplicated movement and not fast music. The high class get more complicated movement and music. The competition for the pupils who have been selected, then got a special and complex movement. The competition activities carried out intensive routine every return to school for the competition preparation training followed. The supporting factor for traditional dance preservation in SDN Dinoyo 3 Malang are traditional dance instructors involve student in several competition events, students have talent, parents support students to participation and help with the needs of traditional dance activities, namely raising money for students follow competition and take a part of 6th grade, providing a practice place outside the environment school, there are tools to support activity, such as sampur and jaranan, and there are infrastructure and facilities for the practice place are in the school yard. The inhibiting factor for traditional dance preservation there are only one traditional dance instructor, there are students don’t have talent traditional dance, lack of funding to fulfill the supporting equipment for traditional dance activity, such as gamelan music accompaniment, costumes, and accessories, and infrastructure is inadequate, such as no mirror or special practice area.
