Abstract
Mass media plays an important role as a source of information and as an actor in shaping public perception in the 2024 Presidential Election. Online media is the main source of information expected by most people in the news presented, especially developments on current issues, including politics.
Using Robert N. Entman's Framing model, which consists of defining problems, diagnosing causes, making moral judgments, and suggesting remedies, this study aims to comprehensively examine how two online media outlets, Detik.com and Kompas.com, frame news. The differences in reporting between the two media outlets are an important factor to examine to see the extent to which these media shape narratives of political victory in the digital public sphere.
The approach used is descriptive qualitative. The research data comes from two news sources, namely Detik.com (March 6-March 21, 2024) and Kompas.com (February 15-March 21, 2024), which published about the 2024 Election victory poll. Data collection techniques were carried out through documentation and literature studies, while data analysis used Robert N. Entman's framing model through the four elements mentioned above to identify and compare the two media in framing the victory of Candidate Pair 02.
This study found that the perspectives developed by the two media outlets differed in their ability to influence public opinion. Detik.com tended to encourage swift and peaceful acceptance of the election results, while Kompas.com encouraged the public to remain critical, active, and aware of the importance of participation in maintaining the quality of democracy.
